Alexandru Mitroi, Invest Romania: “We see opportunities for foreign companies’ relocations in 2023”
“The current year was very dynamic in a good way. It started with the geopolitical crisis. A very successful point was the decision of Finnish company Nokian to relocate from Russia to Romania. They are preparing a large investment in Oradea. Romania was chosen from a list of 8 countries and 40 sites were visited by the company representatives. We are expecting to see more big companies coming to Romania in 2023,” Alexandru Mitroi, Senior Advisor, Invest Romania said during Romanian Automotive Forum 2022 organized by Automotive Today and The Diplomat-Bucharest.
“According to data from the National Bank of Romania, the volume of foreign direct investments in Romania reached 9 billion Euro in 2021. Most of this volume is represented by investments of existing companies in Romania, close to 90 percent and the rest is new investment. That was the highest level of investment in Romania since 2008.
For the first eight months of 2022, NBR shows a 50 percent increase in FDI compared to the same period last year.
We see opportunities for companies’ relocations, we’ve been discussing with software companies, R&D centres, mainly from Ukraine, with German or French origin, but also with companies from the manufacturing area to relocate here in Romania.”
