Adrian Sandu, ACAROM: “We are witnessing the biggest transition in the automotive industry history”

“There is an increasingly strong change on the European, on the Romanian roads, on the European car market. As far as the European and global car industry is concerned, everyone is talking about green mobility. We have a threshold in Europe, 2035, which we must all respect, to be totally “green”, i.e., zero emissions of CO2. We see that some countries have already started to accelerate this transition to green vehicles and here we have a lot of competition in Europe from Chinese manufacturers who are coming with vehicles and cutting-edge technologies, they also have access to funds, materials, and resources to allow them to do so,” Adrian Sandu, Secretary General, Member of the Board, ACAROM said during Green Mobility Conference powered by Automotive Today and The Diplomat-Bucharest.

“In Europe, we already have announced strategies of vehicle manufacturers, strategies that foresee the launch of many electrified or full electric models until 2030, even 2035. Thus, we are witnessing a transition like we have not seen in the automotive industry since its beginnings and until now.

More than 50% of charging sockets in Europe are in two countries – Germany and the Netherlands. In Romania, we have a development based both on the programs launched for municipalities, which are stronger from a financial point of view, and on certain companies that have started to implement charging networks for electric vehicles in Romania. This is a big challenge.”
