Continental Romania has invested over 100 million euros in 2023

In 2023, Continental invested over 100 million euros in its operations in Romania, and exceeded 20,300 employees, increasing compared to the 19,000 employees with which the company ended 2022.

In 2023, Continental invested in new equipment, state-of-the-art technology, and staff development in all its locations in the country (the electronic component factories in Timișoara and Sibiu, the ContiTech factories in Timișoara and Carei, the tire factory in Timișoara, as well as and in the engineering centers of Timișoara, Iași and Sibiu). In the headquarters in Iași, Continental also inaugurated new laboratories, as well as a multi-storey car park.

“2023 is the year in which Continental, strongly involved in attracting approximately 400 million euros through the National Recovery and Resilience Program (PNRR), managed to lay an important brick in the foundation of the development of the semiconductor industry in Romania. Involvement in such key projects means responsibility towards the entire automotive and technological ecosystem in the country,” adds Dr. von Albrichsfeld.

For 2024, the company has planned to continue hiring in its locations in Romania depending on the projects carried out in the country. Also, the planned investments target values comparable to those of last year.

Between 1999 and 2023, Continental invested over 2.3 billion euros in its activities in Romania. All three fields of activity of the company are represented in Romania. Continental owns five production units and four engineering centers in Timisoara, Sibiu, Carei and Iasi. The company has a tire distribution center in Bucharest. At the end of 2023, Continental had over 20,300 employees, of which over a third represented engineers and computer scientists and will continue to hire depending on future projects.
