Continental appoints Serban Nicolescu as the new general manager of the tire factory in Timisoara

Continental announces the appointment of Serban Nicolescu to the position of general manager of the tire factory in Timisoara, one of the most modern and strategic production units of the company. He succeeds Matthieu Turlure, who held this position for two years.

Serban Nicolescu has been part of the Continental team since 2011 and brings with him extensive experience in the field of production, he previously held roles such as area manager in the Continental tire factory in Sarreguemines (France), production manager Continental Tires Timisoara and Head of Focus Factory User Experience at Continental’s automotive megafactory in Timisoara.

The production unit in Timisoara is one of the group’s largest tire factories in Europe, and one of the biggest economic contributors in the region.

In 25 years of activity, Continental Tires Timisoara has produced and delivered over 300 million tires to its customers globally. The company manufactures a wide range of tires for cars and light commercial vehicles, ranging from 13 to 20 inches, according to market requirements, including high performance tires (UHP – Ultra High Performance), tires for electric cars, but also light commercial vehicle (VAN) tires.

Between 1999 and 2023, Continental invested over 2.3 billion euros in its activities in Romania. All three fields of activity of the company are represented in Romania. Continental owns five production units and four engineering centers in Timisoara, Sibiu, Carei and Iasi. The company has a tire distribution center in Bucharest. At the end of 2023, Continental had over 20,300 employees, of which over a third represented engineers and computer scientists and will continue to hire depending on future projects.
