Dacia’s registrations in Europe up by over 17% in January: the Romanian automaker reached a market share of 3.1%
Dacia registered nearly 39,000 units in the European Union in January, up 17% and well above the market average of 7.1%.
Official data shows that Europeans registered 1.25 million units, up 7.1% over the same period last year, considering significant increases in Spain (20%) and Germany (11%).
A major increase was reported by Romania, which registered 11,700 units, up 66%. Growth in Romania, however, is mainly explained by the fact that in January 2017 the sales were lowered pending the removal of the environmental stamp from 1 February 2017.
Volkswagen continues to rank first with 143,000 units (+ 9%), while Peugeot consolidates its second place in front of Renault. Opel is fourth in the ranking with 73,000 units, while Mercedes is the fifth European brand with just over 65,000 units.
Meanwhile, Dacia continues to grow above the European market average. Thus, the automaker reported 38,900 registered units, up 17%, and the market share of the brand on the European market thus reached 3.1%, increasing from 2.8%.
