Toyota launched recall for 1,600 cars in Romania: issues for some models equipped with Takata airbags
Toyota announced that in March this year 1,639 vehicles in Romania were called into service due to problems with the Takata airbags.
Three years ago, Toyota Romania initiated a local recall campaign for certain Toyota models equipped with the Takata airbag. The operation aims at replacing the pyrotechnic staples, a part of the airbags mentioned, which is also being held this year.
In March of this year, Toyota recalled 1,639 vehicles in service in Romania for which the necessary repair will be made free of charge.
According to Toyota, the campaign performance rate has reached 30%, which means that one in three cars out of all those affected since the start of the campaign have been fixed. The repair takes about 3-4 hours, depending on the model.
In Romania, no malfunction of the Takata airbags has been recorded so far for any of the models of the cars targeted.
