Autoliv sets up new electronics division in Brasov, recruits developers and engineers
In September of this year, Autoliv officially formed a new division in Brasov, RBE (Romania Brasov Electronics), and the engineers team will focus their efforts on the innovation and development of the electronic safety systems in the Passive Safety area, according to local media.
The change takes place after the official separation of the Veoneer entity, represented by the former Autoliv divisions in Timisoara and Iasi. The team of engineers in Brasov will have a number of innovations from Pre-Pretensioner, the intelligent safety belt system that uses sensor information to hold the occupant in the seat, even before an imminent collision.
The electronics division in Brasov thus increases the level of expertise for the existing Autoliv Tech Center. Over 450 engineers develop and test passive safety solutions for major automotive manufacturers in the world.
Autoliv recruits new software developers and testing engineers for the new division, and with the completion of the team in early 2019, the innovative activity will expand into the Active Seatbelts area – with projects such as the incorporation of a belt vibration system for various warnings, for example over-marking – but also in the “Steering Wheels” area, with innovative applications integrated into the car’s steering wheel.
