Ford Romania’s director: Duster and EcoSport do not have the same quality, but are competitors
Ford Romania is launching the new EcoSPort on the Romanian market, an important event for the brand and the Craiova plant. It is the second volume model produced at the Romanian plant and the first that could generate substantial sales for Ford on the domestic market.
Ford EcoSPort is launched in this period on the Romanian market, in a real challenge for the American brand. Ford builds EcoSport in Craiova, in the factory bought from the Romanian state.
Approximately 2,000 people have been employed for the new product, new robots have been installed, all conditions have been prepared for EcoSport to be a major competitor on the Class B SUV in Europe.
Ford Craiova is the only factory in Europe where EcoSport is produced. Just as Mioveni is the only factory in the world producing Dacia Duster. The two models are competing, including the Romanian market, and Attila Szabo, general manager of Ford Romania, believes that despite the product differences, the two will compete.
“Dacia produces a quality other than Ford, and the packages offered by the two cars are different, but Duster is one of the EcoSport competitors,” Szabo said in a meeting with journalists.
