Continental reaches 19,700 employees in Romania: 1,500 new employees in 2017

Continental has reached 19,700 employees in Romania, with 1.500 people joining the team in 2017 in different positions, both in engineering centers and production facilities. They work on automotive trends: autonomous vehicles, electrification and connectivity.

“Continental is present in Romania with all five divisions. A wide range of vehicles are equipped with electronic equipment, tires and ContiTech products, such as transmission belts, ventilation and air conditioning pipes, produced in Romania. We focus on the most relevant technological areas in the automotive sector, including rubber for tires, electrification, connectivity and autonomous driving. More than 5,700 engineers and IT specialists work in our research and development centers,” said Christian von Albrichsfeld, General Manager of Continental in Romania.

The company has made investments of over 175 million Euro in 2017 in its locations in Romania. Continental has invested in infrastructure, equipment and state-of-the-art technology for its R&D centers as well as manufacturing facilities.

Every year, Continental produces more than 150 million parts for the automotive industry in its factories in Romania. For 2018, the company aims a similar level of investments as last year.
