Continental has invested 1.9 million Euro in an automated storage system managed exclusively by robots at the Timisoara plant

German group Continental has invested 1.9 million Euro in a fully automated storage system for the electronic components plant in Timisoara. The fully automated storage system is managed through battery-operated robots. Robots collect and stack product boxes inside a metal frame and then rearrange and deliver them automatically to dedicated lifting stations.
This equipment has a surface of 1,000 square meters and contains 42,500 boxes. Its installation ensures a 50 percent reduction in the total surface area originally used for this purpose and provides faster, more ergonomic and cost-effective services at a much lower cost. According to the company, the Timisoara system is the first of its kind in the Romanian automotive industry.
