Eberspächer launches Romanian subsidiary in Cluj-Napoca, intensifies software activities for vehicle electronics
The Eberspächer Group is strengthening its activities in the field of automotive electronics. At the beginning of the year, the Esslingen-based automotive supplier founded the subsidiary Eberspaecher Controls Ro S.R.L. in Romania. With the new location in Cluj-Napoca, the company will expand development activities in the future, particularly for control units for electrification of vehicles and autonomous driving.
The proportion of electronics in the vehicle is constantly increasing. Eberspaecher offers products for vehicle electrical system management for highly and fully automated vehicle systems as well as for driver assistance systems. “We are therefore specifically expanding the software expertise required for this,” says Massimo Venturi, Vice President Automotive Electronics at the Eberspaecher Group.
In Romania, around 50 employees will drive forward the software and hardware development of new control units in offices and laboratories in future. Romania and the city of Cluj-Napoca offered convincing factors in the choice of location. “Cluj is considered Romania’s Silicon Valley with numerous start-ups, IT and software companies and is also very well connected to Germany by air,” Venturi continues. Among other things, the second largest city in Romania, situated in the northwest of the country has over 30.000 students at the local universities with technical degree programs and therefore offers the potential for new employees to support the subsidiary’s further growth.
The new company is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Esslingen-based group of companies. In the future, Eberspaecher Controls Romania will work closely with the German sites in Esslingen and Landau (Palatinate). These automotive electronics are used in cars of international automotive manufacturers and are produced in Landau, Germany, and Tianjin, China.
