Pitesti is the 9th city in Romania where Uber is launching
Starting this afternoon, Uber will be available in Pitesti, the first city in the Arges County where the service is extending, therefore becoming the 9th Uber city in Romania.
Uber launched in Romania in 2015, in Bucharest, and then went through a rapid expansion to Cluj, Timisoara, Brasov and Iasi, adding Constanta past summer, Craiova last month and Galati just last week. As in all the other Romanian cities, Uber drivers in Pitesti are fully licensed to safely drive passengers to their destinations.
“We have been looking forward to coming to Pitești for quite some time and we are very excited to announce that it’s finally becoming a reality! We have seen that people are interested in alternative transportation here and that has encouraged us to bring the Uber services to Pitești. Besides offering safe and convenient rides, we also aim to become a reliable partner for the local authorities, in order to provide the people here with a transportation alternative they can rely on,” says Ana Maria Borlovan, Country Operations Manager Uber Romania.
Just like across all other cities where Uber is available, riders in Pitești benefit from a series of safety features available in the Uber app, including access to driver information such as photo, car model & number and rating. Moreover, passengers are able to track their trip in the app, both before the driver’s arrival to the pick-up location and during the ride and can share the trip with a trusted contact.
In Romania, as well as in other countries, Uber is using a technology that verifies if drivers are wearing a mask by checking the selfies they take before going online. Drivers have also been provided with disinfectants and the company has equipped vehicles with protective shields for free. All users are reminded in the app that they should wash their hands, sanitize the vehicles, and keep windows open in order to facilitate ventilation during their rides.
