Continental transfers its activity in Nadab to the production unit in Carei
Continental announces the transfer of its activities from the induction system factory in Nadab to the production location of heating / cooling rubber hoses in Carei. The operational transfer will be gradual and will end in mid-2022.
“Volumes for air induction systems and cooling and heating systems are steadily declining due to the shift of the automotive industry to electric vehicles. Thus, we are looking for new innovative solutions that allow us new collaboration opportunities. The consolidation between the two production sites in Nadab and Carei is a big step forward. Through this, we want to maintain our most modern and competitive strengths, to achieve a profitable growth and to strengthen our position in the car hose production sector,” explains Bogdan Ureniuc, general manager of the production units in Nadab and Carei.
More than 300 employees of the factory in Nadab will be affected by this transfer of activities. Affected employees will be offered the option to relocate from Nadab to Carei, while a small part of them will be relocated to Timișoara.
The company will offer a compensatory package for restricting the activity in accordance with local legal regulations to those employees who will not want to transfer.
Curved, straight and convoluted air induction hoses are made in the Nadab location. The factory produces about 13 million products each year for passenger cars, hybrid vehicles and commercial vehicles. The Carei production unit manufactures rubber heating / cooling hoses as well as air induction hoses. About 27 million parts are produced here per year for passenger cars and commercial vehicles.
The activities in the other Continental locations in Romania will not be influenced by the decision taken for the factory in Nadab.
