New HORSE company to supply engines for Dacia and the Renault group
The Renault Group has announced the official establishment of the HORSE company, an entity that will coordinate all activities related to the development and production of engines for the entire group.
The new company HORSE – owned equally by Renault and the Chinese group Geely – positions itself as a leader in the “development, production and supply of the next generation of thermal and hybrid propulsion systems”.
The headquarters of HORSE is located in Madrid, and the company’s activity is carried out in 7 countries: Romania, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Portugal, Spain and Turkey.
The new company has 9,000 employees (former Renault Group employees), working in 8 plants with a production capacity of 3.2 million engines annually. In addition, HORSE also coordinates 3 R&D centers.
Renault and Geely want the new company to supply engines to more manufacturers, with Renault, Dacia, Geely Auto, Volvo, Lynk & Co, Proton, Nissan and Mitsubishi on the initial list. In the future, the company will offer engines to other brands as well.
“In 2040, combustion and hybrid vehicles will continue to represent more than 50% of global sales. HORSE will be a trailblazer in this market with its technology and low-carbon propulsion solutions. (…) Employees of HORSE all over the world are ready to make this company a true international reference in the field of thermal and hybrid propulsion technology,” said Patrice Haettel, CEO of HORSE.
