Continental Timisoara celebrates 300 million tires, 600 million Euro invested since 1998

Continental celebrates 25 years since the establishment of the tire factory in Timisoara and marks the production of 300 million tires. In its 25 years of activity, Continental has invested more than 600 million euros and employed more than 2,700 people in its tire plant in Timisoara, one of the group’s largest in Europe and one of the main economic contributors in the region.

“With the 300 million tires produced in Timisoara, we have equipped the equivalent of approximately 75 million cars worldwide with safe and premium quality tires. I am very proud of our entire team and would like to congratulate everyone involved on this great achievement,” said Matthieu Turlure, director of Continental’s tire plant in Timisoara.

In 2023, Timisoara has become a focal point on the cultural map of Europe through the activities carried out under the umbrella of the European Capital of Culture, and Continental’s commitment to the local community remains unchanged. “Our 25-year journey has transformed us from a newly built factory into one of Continental’s largest tire production plants. We are proud to write our success story in Timisoara and to play a vital role in the growth and success of the city,” explained Turlure. Continental Tires Timisoara actively supports social responsibility projects in the fields of health, environment, and education in the local community.

The Continental Timisoara tire plant specializes in the production of a wide range of tires for both original equipment and the replacement market, including ultra-high-performance tires and tires for light commercial vehicles, ranging in size from 13 to 20 inches.

Given Continental’s strategic direction to build all its tires with 100% sustainable materials by 2050 at the latest and produce them carbon-free, the Timisoara plant is also aiming for more sustainable production. The premium tire manufacturer has so far invested almost 16 million Euro in sustainable projects to reduce the plant’s environmental impact.
