Eldrive Romania exceeded 500 charging points in 2024, aims to install 300 more this year

Eldrive Romania ended 2024 with over 500 charging points nationwide. The expansion was supported both by own funds as well as by repayable loans from EBRD and EIB. During 2024, Eldrive’s first 300 kW charger was installed in Romania (in Fetești), along with two other 150 kW chargers in the same location.
Over the past year, Eldrive Romania has also changed its mobile app to a completely new one, which offers a better user experience and extended features such as displaying the battery level of a car charging and the charging time.
“In 2025 we will focus on expanding the charging network in Romania. We will have more and stronger chargers and we will continue to open charging HUBs, which totally differentiate us from our competitors. Even if the sales of electric cars decreased in 2024, we will continue our long-term investments without any hesitation”, said Camelia Popescu, Eldrive Country Manager in Romania.
The first 400 kW Eldrive Romania charger was inaugurated in January 2025 (at Lehliu). It has three connectors (three charging points). There is also a 150 kW charger there.
Eldrive Romania aims to end the year 2025 with a total of 800 charging points nationwide. This means during 2025, around 300 new charging points will be installed and commissioned in the Eldrive Romania network, equivalent to 150 chargers for electric cars.
“We will install, starting in 2025, a new type of charger, 200 kW, with two charging points, which is an optimal solution for the structure of the electric car fleet in Romania. Together with the authentication, charging and automatic payment function Autocharge, we have a complete solution for EV users, individuals and businesses”, explained Camelia Popescu.
Most Eldrive Romania chargers have two connectors (two charging points). There are also chargers with one connector (one charging point) or three connectors (three charging points) in the network, but these are rare.
The main growth directions of the Eldrive Romania network in 2025
• Creating new charging HUBs with a minimum of two powerful chargers and a minimum of four connectors/four charging points.
• Widespread installation of 200 kW chargers in all locations where this is possible, which implies some retrofitting in existing locations (upgrade) as well as new installations with high power chargers (200 kW, 300 kW and 400 kW).
• Steps to install the first chargers for electric trucks.
• New partnerships with real estate, retail and residential developers.
• Expanding chargers installations at car dealerships.
• Attracting new fleet customers – an approach started in 2024, which will be generalized in 2025, given the Eldrive Romania charging HUBs and the Autocharge function, which allows electric car fleet managers to easily manage their fleets.
