BMW TechWorks Romania tripled its number of employees in just nine months

In the context of the difficult situation in the IT sector, the BMW TechWorks Romania hub in Cluj has increased its number of employees to 350 and continues to expand.
Officially opened in July 2024, the IT center developed in Romania by BMW and NTT Data has just marked a significant milestone in its evolution, tripling its number of employees, from 110 at the time of launching operations, just nine months ago, to 350 today. The sustained development in recent times has also led to the expansion of the workspace, by taking over additional floors in a new office building of the same complex in Cluj-Napoca, Economica.net reads.
“This increase reflects both the constant evolution of ongoing projects and the ability of our teams to deliver solid results at an accelerated pace. We have managed to build an organization with a strong culture, based on collaboration, taking responsibility, innovation and excellence in execution,” said Marian Haus, operational director of BMW TechWorks Romania.
The teams in Cluj-Napoca are involved in specific projects of the BMW group, focused on software and digitalization, actively contributing to the consolidation of the technological development of the group both locally and internationally. Competencies in the field of software development on AWS and Azure Cloud platforms, Salesforce, SAP, 3DEXperience, and Artificial Intelligence have been an advantage in the rapid development of the company, as has the collaboration with technical and IT universities in Cluj.
“BMW TechWorks Romania is a project built with vision and consistency. In just a few months, we have demonstrated that we can attract and develop valuable talents, capable of delivering high-performance software solutions in a mature professional environment. We will continue to invest in people, in agile structures and in excellence,” added Emil Petru, general manager of BMW TechWorks Romania.
In the coming period, BMW TechWorks Romania expects to maintain the growth trend and aims to reach a number of over 500 IT specialists by the end of the year. In parallel, the company will continue to consolidate teams, expand its portfolio of projects and technologies, and develop a stable and competitive technological ecosystem.
Located in Cluj, BMW TechWorks Romania serves as the new European IT hub of BMW, established through a strategic joint venture between BMW Group and NTT DATA Romania.
This hub is dedicated to developing advanced software solutions across various domains, including human resources, production, development, sales, and BMW Group Financial Services.
