Dumitru Pricop-Cosmeanu, Teleperformance Romania: “We do not see AI as a competitor, but as an add-on in the industry”

“We need to find a balance between innovation and regulation. From my point of view and that of the company I work for, which collaborates with the biggest global market players in the automotive industry, I can say that innovation and regulation are complementary.
Regulations can bring success and stimulate innovation in a way that no one has ever thought of. The difference is made by companies that work truly hands-on. In the medium and long term, these regulations can help, but we need to be careful about overregulation because it is a key element,” Dumitru Pricop-Cosmeanu, Business Development Manager, Teleperformance Romania said at Automotive R&D Conference organized by Automotive Today and The Diplomat-Bucharest.
Key statements:
- Sometimes, the fear of something new can bring us to the point where we force regulations and think that more rules will help us go through a change more easily. There needs to be a balance between what we want to achieve, where we are going, and regulations that are made in a way that helps us get to that point. This is where the difference between innovation and regulation comes in.
- TP is one of the most important global partners for the automotive industry. We have over 500,000 employees globally. In Romania we have over 4,300 employees, we are market leaders in AI and this is precisely what makes us strategic partners for the automotive industry. We want to grow to over 7,000 employees.
- AI must become people’s partner; it must streamline processes that require time that can be reinvested in something else. I mean design, data analysis, autonomous vehicles, interconnectivity between cars. AI can be the most important partner in terms of safety in the automotive field. AI’s predictability far exceeds human capabilities at this point. We do not see AI as a competitor, but as an add-on in the industry and we believe that it can support any industry, it can support the increase in the need to hire more people in companies.
- The quality department plays an essential role in development. How do we attach AI to this quality department without reducing the number of jobs in the company? The answer is simple: education. We will educate our colleagues through internal training programs that contain this AI component. The future of any company is ensured by the people who work in the company.
